The business goal of the project was to breathe a fresh new visual appeal both for Vetera corporate brand as well as the product. In order to achieve this business goal we crafted a modern but playful new visual identity. The new identity was versatile and applicable for both offline and digital mediums to preserve the brand values. Brand guidelines, a user interface design system, UI elements, widgets, and the entire product experience were thoughtfully crafted to revolve around achieving the business goal. Supporting mobile devices was a main goal as both pet owners and veterinarians used mobile devices. We identified the critical pieces of information that are frequently consumed on mobile and cater to those user journeys first. In the process, we simplified the complex information with the use of visual elements to improve usability. The new product UI design was done to ensure usability across platforms and devices.
Modern experience means supporting modern ways of working. After listening to user feedback we introduced modern features such as real-time collaboration, chatting, and electronic medical record maintenance. These enhancements helped users finish their daily tasks effortlessly. The user friendly interface design made these features accessible and saw an increase in user adoption. Most importantly addressing user feedback was well received by veterinary clinic owners.
A product with such complexity wouldn’t be consistent without design guidelines. Drawing from the branding we established a set of UI design guidelines that set the foundation for the design system of the whole user interface. The design system of VeteraNet also includes custom icons and illustrations to maintain consistency on various states of the screens. The design system prevented designers as well as developers from making visual design errors which also improved the team productivity.
VeteraSky the new cloud-based version of VeteraNet received much attention from the veterinary community in DACH for its user-friendly interface and modern appeal. Improvements in visual design, user experience, and improved functionality secured further support from investors which led to increased engagement, more referrals, and new partners on-boarded.
